Large music collections are not always easy to manage and organize, especially if the music files are not properly tagged. mp3Tag Pro provides you with all the tools and features you need to tag and rename your MP3, Ogg, WMA, M4A, APE, FLAC, or WAV files, among other formats. The program searches the Web looking for any missing tags, cover art and lyrics included. It reads and writes all known ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, and those specific to supported audio formats other than MP3.

Users opening mp3Tag Pro for the first time will find a multi-panel interface that turns into a multi-panel, multi-tab interface whenever you select one of the tracks on the main panel and go into edit mode. The plethora of information, together with the large amount of options and features provided, may make it look a bit cluttered at times, but you will get used to it in time. The main window is where you will find your music collection – the program will locate all tracks on your disks and will display them to you in a fully-configurable list. Here you can add, edit, or delete your files’ tags on a file-by-file basis, look for the lyrics and the cover art, as well as rate and catalog your tracks in whatever way fits your preferences.

What I call “the editing window” is where the program’s fun is. Here is where you tag, rename, and add data to your music files in batches, connecting to renowned databases – such as Discogs, MusicBrainz, FreeDB, and even Amazon – and using the program’s extensive functionality to rename files using their tags, tag them using their filenames, create playlists, and export both these playlists and tags into different formats (such as M3U or PLS, and MS Excel, CSV, or TSV, respectively). The program uses templates that you can tweak to meet your preferences, and that will help you create perfect filenames for your tracks. Besides, these templates will become the basis of your “tag generator”, which will use these “codes” to retrieve the right information and in the right order out of the name of each file.

Together with valuable import and export capabilities, tag cleaning tools, sorting and viewing features, and many other useful and interesting tools, mp3Tag Pro offers you a full-featured utility that will allow you to keep your music collection nicely cataloged, as well as easy to browse and search.
